In honor of ze’ev Jabotinsky, the government decided to instruct the Ministry of Jerusalem Affairs and national heritage to promote a program of construction of the heritage Center of ze’ev Jabotinsky. The establishment of a Centre for the various ministries and agencies have allocated 14 million shekels.
Explaining the decision, Netanyahu said: «Our national revival would have been impossible, especially without Herzl, and without small group leaders, one of whom was Jabotinsky.
The contribution of Jabotinsky is unique, but there’s not many of you know. He had an impact on Ben-Gurion, and the basic concepts of the state. It is important to preserve his legacy not only as a memory of the past, but also as a guarantee for the future, and therefore the decision on creation of the Centre is of particular importance. The archive associated with the activities of Jabotinsky, is kept literally in the basement and cannot be accessed».
The decision on the establishment of the heritage Centre welcomed the Minister for Jerusalem Affairs Zeev Elkin. «The legacy of ze’ev Jabotinsky and the policy of «iron wall» is still relevant to this day, and it is our duty to preserve, perpetuate and make it available to the younger generation and I am proud to lead an important project of the Ministry entrusted to me,» said Elkin.
