Wednesday, 10 February, was held a ceremony in memory of the 73 soldiers and officers who died in the crash of two helicopters in 1997. At the ceremony, held at the memorial «Balloon Village», was attended by relatives of victims, representatives of the Army of defense of Israel headed by the chief of staff Gadi Eisenkot. However, all Israeli media noted that the ceremony was not one of the members of the government.
According to the information of the 2nd channel ITV, the ceremony was attended by Israeli defense Minister Moshe ya’alon, however, he is abroad. Instead, it had to come to the ceremony Naftali Bennett. His absence, said the 2nd channel Bennett explained that he was unable to negotiate with the opposition about the «adjustment» of votes when voting in the Knesset. The 2-channel reported that the opposition’s representatives deny this information. In particular, the sources in the «Zionist camp» claim that Bennett promised to «compensate» for his absence during voting.
4 February 1997 in the area of the settlements of the Shaar Yishuv and Daphne faced two military helicopters carrying troops from Lebanon. All 73 people aboard were killed. It was the worst crash in the history of Israel. The state Commission formed to investigate the crash, was unable to name the exact cause of the collision of the helicopters.
