Palestinian Agency Maan tells the story of a 52-year-old Mohammad from Bethlehem (Beit-lehem), which the family had chained and handcuffed after two months ago his mother died.
Muhammad suffers from mental illness, he was disabled, and the mother took care of him until his death. The Palestinian authority had paid her an allowance of Muhammad in the amount of 750 shekels, as well as provided health insurance and basic food.
The mother refused to hand over Muhammad to a specialized hospital for the mentally ill, and feared that Muhammad’s cousins sent him to a lunatic asylum after her death. So she rewrote owned a small plot of land and the room where they lived, in his name, specifying in his will that the nephews after her death, should care about Muhammad.
Thursday, February 18 an employee of social services went to the home of Muhammad, to learn how he lives after his mother’s death. He found the man handcuffed and chained in a room, more like a shed, with no heating and ventilation. Food, Muhammad handed the bowl, offering him a spoon or fork, and he was forced to use my hands. Apparently, no one cleaned for a long time and didn’t wash it.
Local authorities indicate that against the relatives of Muhammad can be the lawsuit. But, apparently, now it will pull from the family and sent to a mental institution.
