A pastor from Sierra Leone found a diamond on 709 carats is one of the largest in the world

Emmanuel Momoh, a Christian priest from Sierra Leone, was discovered in the Kono district in the East of the country one of the world’s largest diamonds, one of the TOP 20.

The jewel in 709 carats is found today in Central Bank of Freetown – the capital of this West African goudarstva, writes 16 March, the news service of the BBC.

In 2012 the UN international Tribunal has sentenced former Liberian President Charles Taylor to 50 years in prison: a court in the Hague found him guilty of supporting rebels from the Revolutionary United front in Sierra Leone during the 1991-2002 civil war.
In gratitude for their support, according to the prosecution, the rebels were transported to Taylor and his entourage diamonds, which the press called «bloody».
