Court of Cincinnati (Ohio) considers a case of a 32-year-old Izmir Koch, a suspect in a crime motivated by ethnic hatred: in February 2017, he beat the man who was considered a Jew, according to the Times of Israel.
According to the indictment, Koch approached the group of people standing at the entrance to the restaurant, and asked whether any of them are Jewish. One of the men said Yes (despite the fact that it wasn’t true). Immediately after this, Koch has attacked his victim, a man breaking two ribs and damaging his eyes.
Attorney Benjamin Glassman stated that it does not matter whether the victim is a Jew.
«If you attack someone just because you think that you are a Jew, Muslim or Christian, you are committing a crime of hatred,» said Glassman. If Koch is found guilty, he could be sentenced to 10 years in prison.
