The President of the Palestinian national authority Mahmoud Abbas spoke at the session of the UN General Assembly. A large part of his speech was devoted to accusations against Israel.
«The international community turns a blind eye to half a century of occupation of Palestinian lands, indulging the Israeli settlement policy. The Palestinians did everything possible to bring Israel to the negotiating table, but in vain,» he said.
Abbas reminded about a recent conflict around the Temple mount, saying that Israel is playing with fire, endangering the religious sites of the Old town and, first and foremost, the al-Aqsa mosque.
«The occupation could be ended in two ways: either the principle of «Two States for two peoples,» or the creation of a single state with equal rights for all citizens», — quotes the leader of the Palestinian Agency Maan.
He urged the UN to establish a rigid time frame for the implementation of the resolutions adopted against Israel and the international community to take measures for protection from Israeli aggression and the halt of settlement activities.
