Monday, 14 December, at the plenary session of the Knesset approved second and third readings amendments to the law on the protection of animals, increased the penalties for abuse of Pets.
The amendment was supported by 84 parliamentarians. Abstentions and voted against was not.
According to recent amendments, the maximum penalty for the abuse of animals is four years in prison, the penalty increased to 226 thousand shekels.
The law also more clearly defines the obligations of pet owners to care for them, as well as expanded the powers of the police and the veterinary service.
