The Prime Minister of Iraq Haidar al-Abadi, speaking at the Cabinet meeting, commented on the transition of Kirkuk under the control of government troops and the retreat of the Kurdish units.
«The referendum on independence in the past. I encourage you to start a dialogue in the framework of the Constitution», — said the head of the government, adding that the armed forces do not intend to provoke a clash, but ready to defend themselves.
The head of government promised that in the near future will be announced that the whole territory of the state, including the border with Syria, came under the control of the Central authorities. He also denied reports according to which the province of Kirkuk is divided between the Iraqi authorities and the Kurdish Autonomous region.
We will remind that on September 25, more than 90% of the inhabitants of the Kurdish Autonomous region of Iraq and Kirkuk province called for the creation of an independent state.
