On Friday, July 7, unknown attacked a position of the Egyptian army in the village of al-Barat near the town of Rafah, on the border with the Gaza strip.
At the army checkpoint was blown up two car bombs, then the terrorists opened fire at soldiers. Initially it was reported about ten victims, however, around 16:00 the channel «al Jazeera» reported that the attack killed 23 people.
The Egyptian military said that it had prevented terrorist attacks in several places in the North of the Sinai Peninsula, killing 40 terrorists and 6 of their vehicles.
Hamas is a terrorist organization, condemned the attack, calling the attack on Egyptian soldiers «cowardly attack».
Currently no organization has claimed responsibility for the attack, however, allegedly behind the attacks are militants of the «Islamic state».
