The Iranian leadership began the withdrawal of troops from Syria and Iraq to protest against Russia’s behavior, refusing to consider the equitable Tehran’s ally, said appearing in a London newspaper in Arabic language «al-Sharq al-Awsat».
The publication cites the statement of the Iraqi government source, according to whom the elimination of the Lebanese terrorist Samir Kuntar with a group of field commanders of Hezbollah Iran showed that Russia’s relations with Israel are more important than the Alliance with Tehran.
The Iranian leadership fears that Russia intends to control the development of events in Syria and Iraq, placing Iran only a minor role, along with the Syrian and Iraqi governments. The same source said that Russia formed anti-terrorism Alliance involving Iran, Iraq and Syria practically ceased to exist.
As reported by the media, the evening of 19 December, the Israeli air force aircraft fired four missiles on a building in one of the suburbs of Damascus. Nine people died, among which was Samir Kuntar. The building was completely destroyed.
