Leaving London Saudi newspaper «Al-Sharq al-Awsat» citing Western diplomatic sources writes about the intention to introduce new targets to the soldiers of the peacekeeping contingent of the UN force monitoring the disengagement on the Golan heights (UNDOF).
According to this source, it is planned to equip units of the UNDOF, so they could not only observe, but also, if necessary, to protect the civilian population in the controlled area, including the area of Quneitra.
This proposal should be discussed at the end of June at the meeting of the UN security Council.
It is also reported on the talks between Washington and Moscow on the creation of a fifth zone of de-escalation in the South of Syria, near the border with Israel. The publication says that the United States insist that from this area were removed the strength of the Iranian «Islamic revolutionary guard Corps».
What kind of site it is, is unclear. Recall that over a month ago, Russia offered the UN Security Council to adopt a resolution in support of the creation of the four zones of de-escalation in Syria: in the provinces of Idlib, Latakia, Hama and Aleppo, in the North of HOMS province, in Eastern ghouta and in the South of Syria in the provinces of Daraa and Quneitra.
