Simonovsky court of Moscow on the night of Tuesday, June 13, issued a decision to arrest for a period of 30 days, one of the leaders of the Russian opposition, the head of the Fund of struggle against corruption (FBK) Alexei Navalny, RIA Novosti reported.
Navalny was detained on the eve of calls for participation in an unsanctioned rally in Central Moscow, as well as for disobedience to law enforcement.
According to TASS, the opposition leader convicted under part 8 of article 20.2 of the administrative code («the Repeated Commission of an administrative offense, namely, violation of the established order of organizing or holding a rally»).
Lawyers Navalny insisted that there is no evidence that people came to an unsanctioned rally exactly at the urging of their client. They announced their intention to appeal the decision.
