The epicenter of the earthquake, recorded at 14:13 UTC, was located on the island of New Guinea, 117,3 km West of the town Mendi, the focus lies at a depth of 10 kilometers.
According to local authorities, the earthquake has killed at least 18 people, reports news Agency Reuters.
This is the second earthquake in Papua-New-Guinea over the last few days. February 26 in the country, an earthquake of magnitude 7.5, which killed more than 50 people.
