Investigators of the Samara region opened a criminal investigation against an employee of the sniffer dog service of the local police, the suspect in animal cruelty. According to preliminary data, she abandoned a pregnant cat on the road, where she was crushed by a passing car.
The suspect is charged with part 1 of article 245 of the criminal code of Russian Federation («Cruel treatment of animals»), the maximum penalty for which is six months imprisonment, reports the official website of the regional Department of the RF IC.
According to investigators , on 6 October 2016 the suspect, being on the side of the roadway of Olympic street in Kirovsky district of Samara, «of hooliganism in the presence of minors was thrown under the wheels of a passing car by a pregnant cat». The animal was seriously injured. Subsequently, the cat was euthanized to end her suffering.
As explained senior assistant head of regional investigatory management Elena Scaeva, information about the crime came to law enforcement from officers dog service colleagues suspect.
The head of research Affairs of the Samara region Sergey Solodovnikov was appointed an official check on this fact. If the fault of employees of the police is proved, it will be fired from the internal Affairs bodies on discrediting circumstances, reports news Agency TASS.
