Turkish artillery fired on February 13, positions of fighters of the Kurdish organization «National defense forces» (YPG ), confirmed by sources in the Turkish government in conversation with the local branch of CNN.

According to government sources, the artillery fired around the city of Azaz in the area of the Turkish-Syrian border. The message about the shelling came amid the growing tension in the area the Turkish-Syrian border. Earlier on February 13, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that Ankara is ready to strike at the Syrian Kurds, if they are to threaten the security of Turkey.
Meanwhile, the Minister of foreign Affairs of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu said that Saudi Arabia has deployed planes and soldiers on the Turkish base of «Incirlik» in preparation for operations against terrorists «Islamic state» in Syria. The U.S. Secretary of defense Ashton Carter, in turn, confirmed that Riyadh and the UAE is ready to send special forces to participate in anti-terrorist campaign in Syria.
The shelling of the Kurdish position came amid efforts by the US and Russia to secure a truce in Syria. However, the agreement on the ceasefire does not apply to a terrorist organization.
