On Tuesday, July 11, in the Pacific ocean, near the coast of New Zealand, an earthquake of magnitude of 6.8, reports the US Geological survey (USGS).
The epicenter of the earthquake was located about 200 kilometers North-West of the uninhabited Islands of Auckland. The focus lies at a depth of 10 kilometers.
As noted by RIA Novosti, the information on possible victims and destructions did not arrive. About the threat of tsunami was not reported.
The most destructive recent earthquake in New Zealand in February 2011. Then in Christchurch was destroyed many houses, killed 185 people, including three Israelis. The magnitude was 6.3, but the epicenter was only 10 km South-East of Christchurch, and the focus lies at a depth of 5 km.
