Two tourists from Russia were killed in the explosions of ammunition at a military depot in Abkhazia. Another Russian woman were injured, reports «Interfax» with reference to EMERCOM of Abkhazia.
All three women were riding near the ammunition depot.
The total number of victims in the result of emergency in the Armory was about 60 people, 35 of them are Russian tourists.
Explosions in a warehouse of the Ministry of defence of Abkhazia in the village of Primorsk in the Gudauta district of the Republic began on Wednesday, August 2, at about 17:30 local time. The warehouse was cordoned off, but employees of operative services could not come close to the place of state of emergency because of the constant explosions.
After some time had been spent evacuation of inhabitants of nearby houses due to flying away fragments. In addition, there was limited movement on the highway Sukhumi, New Athos, so the pieces do not hit passing cars.
After more than four hours the explosions stopped, and experts were able to get to the scene. Also there arrived the staff of the interior Ministry and Prosecutor’s office, to understand the causes of the emergency.
The media noted that all the victims are civilians.
