On the evening of 11 February, the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the name of the new head of the General security service (SHABAK). This 55-year-old Nadav Argaman.
Nadav, Argman is Deputy head of the Israel security Agency. He is 55 years old, married and has three children.
In 1978, Argman was drafted into the IDF where he served in elite units. In 1983, Nadab, Argman began service in the Shin bet, performing a wide range of tasks.
From 2003 to 2007 Argmin held the position of head of the operational headquarters of Shabak, and then for 4 years was the representative of Shabak in the United States.
On his return from the United States, Alman was appointed Deputy head of the Israel security Agency and has held this position for 3 years. In September 2014 Alman was sent to work in the atomic energy Commission, and in September 2015 at the request of the head of Shabak Yoram Cohen, he returned to his old job as Deputy head of the Shin bet, after Roni Alsheikh left this post in connection with appointment to the post of inspector-General of police.
Argaman the received first and second degree in political science from the University of Haifa. Another second degree in strategic security he received in the framework of the training program of the Institute of national security at Haifa University.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, commenting on his decision, said: «Nadav Argaman possesses rich operational and command experience in security and in other areas. I fully trust him and I am sure that under him, the Shin bet will continue to strengthen its operational work to strengthen its position in technology and to protect the security of Israel».
