Assistant to the President for social-political Affairs Ali Hasanov, after the news about the pardon of blogger Alexander Lapshin said that the question of his release has long been discussed with the Israeli authorities, the Agency APA.
According to Hasanov, an agreement was reached, according to which, after the order for clemency from the President, the government of Azerbaijan reports Lapshin Israeli side, and the subsequent obligations it will perform in accordance with the laws of Israel. «But, unfortunately, Israeli officials tightened the procedure for his extradition, resulting in yesterday had a nasty accident. Lapshin attempted suicide in the institution where he was incarcerated. However, thanks to the vigilance and efficiency of prison Warders, the suicide was prevented. He urgently was given the necessary medical assistance. At the moment, Lapshin continuing treatment under medical supervision», – stated in the publication APA.
Ali Hasanov noted that after the signing of Ilham Aliyev’s order to pardon an issue of extradition do Lapshina Ministry of foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Embassy of Israel in Baku. It is assumed that in a short time this process will be completed.

On the official website of the President of Azerbaijan published the following text: «Order of the Azerbaijan President on Amnesty by A. Lapshin. In accordance with paragraph 22 of article 109 of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, I hereby resolve: I. to Release Alexander V. Lapshin, a citizen of the state of Israel, 1976, was sentenced by the Baku court of grave crimes on 20 July 2017 to prison. II. This order shall come into force from the day of its signing. Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Baku, 11 September 2017».
The verdict of the Baku court against Lapshin entered into force 14 Aug 2017. Steps were taken to extradite him to Israel. Blogger Alexander Lapshin (1976) was detained in Minsk on the night of December 15, 2016.
