The foreign Ministry of Israel and individual Israeli politicians have applied to the city hall of London with the request to remove from subway posters BDS organizations calling for a boycott of the Jewish state.
According to the newspaper The Jewish Chronicle Online, Sunday, February 21, activity BDS as part of the weekly event «Israeli apartheid Week» stuck in the subway about 500 posters. One poster contains the statement that «British arms are used for killing Palestinians».
According to the radio station «Sieves Beth», the night before the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered the Director General of the Foreign Ministry Dori Goldu to contact the UK Foreign and to ensure the immediate removal of posters.
Earlier, the leader of the «Yesh Atid» Yair Lapid at a meeting of the parliamentary faction of his party said that «because of the inaction of the Israeli government,» he was forced to intervene in the situation. According to him, this morning he had a telephone conversation with mayor of London Boris Johnson and asked him to remove the posters.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in turn, at the meeting of the faction «Likud», said: «whoever claims that the government does nothing to counter the BDS campaign in London, tells a lie».
In the afternoon, on 22 February, the Israeli foreign Ministry reported that the work of the municipality of London started to clean up the subway posters from BDS.
