Last year, China recorded a record number of newborns, the so-called «baby boom» associated with the softening of state policy of birth control.
As you know, in 2015, the government allowed families to have two children, with the result that in 2016, this country born, about 18 million infants – by 7.9%, or 1.31 million more than in 2015.
This writes the January 23 edition of the Inquirer, citing state newspaper the China Daily and the National health and family planning (NHFPC)
The article notes that about half of the infants (45%) were the second child in the family. In addition, in 2016, the Lunar Year of the monkey according to the Chinese calendar, is considered particularly favorable for the replenishment of the family.
Recall that since the late 70-ies of the government of the PRC, the most populous country in the world, has adopted strict measures to reduce birth rates, subjecting violators of the law of «one family – one child» in large fines and even forced abortions.
Now the main obstacle to the birth of the second child are only financial difficulties – many citizens of countries there is simply no money to maintain it. According to recent polls, the All-China Women’s Federation, about 53% of families with one child under 15 years have no desire to have a second.
