Syrian President Bashar al-Assad gave an interview to the Indian television. In it, Syrian dictator reports that with the help of Russia and Iran, the government almost defeated terrorist group «Islamic state». «The worst is behind us,» he says optimistically.
Assad also accused Western countries, the Gulf States and Turkey of supporting terrorism. According to him, without the support and abroad, the terrorists would be unable for several years to fight the Syrian army.
Note that the main efforts of the Syrian army are in the area of dir al-Zura. Government troops did not take part in the operation to free ISIS from Raqqa, the declared capital created by the jihadists of the Caliphate.
The battle for this city are units of the Army of free Syria, supported by Turkey, Kurds backed by the United States, and the Shiite militia, which is subordinate to Iran.
