Friday, October 9, continues the strike of the secondary school in Jerusalem, and state religious schools. The reason: lack of funds to complete the safety of schools.
Special schools will operate as usual.
The strike began yesterday. 6 October the mayor of Jerusalem NIR Barkat and the head of city parental Committee Paz Cohen issued a statement that they intend to suspend classes in schools as long as internal security Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of education will not allocate money to pay for school security guards throughout the day. They emphasize that in connection with the situation in the area of security, a recommendation was received from the police.
The statement indicated that at present the guards are in schools until 13:30. «The threat of terrorist attacks does not disappear after 13:30. And so it is unwise to let the guards work as long as the children are in educational institutions». City hall insists that the guards should remain in schools until 16:30. «Issue price» of Jerusalem: 15 million shekels per month.
October 8, Barkat stated that, there is no progress, the government still cannot allocate the required funds.
