The Egyptian authorities have released from custody a Belgian fashion model Marisa Papen who arranged a naked photo shoot at the pyramids and Temple of Karnak in Luxor. Released and the other members of the crew, including Australian photographer Jesse Walker.
Papen acted in the Nude in 50 countries. Egypt became her 51st country where arranged this photo shoot. Together with the photographer, she went to Giza to shoot at the pyramids. From the guards who wanted to detain them, they managed to bribe, giving a bribe.
After that, the Walker and the girl went to Luxor, where the famous temple complex. The cops here were much more – as the Karnak temple has repeatedly been targeted by terrorists.
However, the girl undressed and started to take pictures. The crew immediately surrounded the five police officers that brought her and the photographer to the nearest station.
«I knew that prisons in Egypt are different from the Belgian, but never could. We were put in a tight cell, where there were about 20 men. Some of them lost consciousness from lack of air, the other was bleeding. Jesse told me not to look, but here it is possible not to look,» recalls Marisa.
Soon they were summoned for interrogation, after which was transferred to another station and then to court. The judges took the decision to release from custody and deported from Egypt.
The decision angered Egyptian human rights defenders. They accused the authorities of double standards. The citizens of Egypt, against whom allegations of misconduct, hold behind bars for years.
