Next week will start the trial on the suit of «captain George», a former employee of AMAN, to the state and Ministry of defence.
57-year-old Doron Zahavi was an investigator for the 504 units of the Israel defense forces, part of military intelligence. He questioned the militant Lebanese group Amal, Mustafa Dirani, abducted from Lebanon by the special forces of the General staff in 1994. According to intelligence agencies, Dirani might have information about the fate of Israeli Navigator Ron Arad, missing in Lebanon. In 2004, Mustafa Dirani, along with several other terrorists were released in exchange for Elchanan of Tennenbaum and the bodies of three Israeli soldiers. After the terrorist returned to Lebanon, he blamed the «captain George» in torture, demanding from Israel a compensation of 6 million shekels.
At one stage of the scandal, the media got the real name of «Captain George». In response to Doron Zahavi said that the government is trying to make it a «scapegoat», and in January 2012 filed a lawsuit against the Ministry of defence, demanding to pay him 5.5 million shekels for damages.
26 Oct Nana10 website reported that in the past few months between the plaintiff and the defendant in the third-party mediation of negotiations on regulation of lawsuit. However, the negotiations failed and the case returned to the court. The first session on the suit of «Captain George» will be held on October 29.
«Captain George,» in turn, promises that his trial will reveal some unpleasant stories associated with the activities of the 504 units.
