Chief negotiator of the Higher Committee on negotiations of the Syrian opposition (CPSU) Muhammad Alloush, representative of the group «Jaish al-Islam, announced his intention to leave his post.
«I announced the withdrawal from the delegation and filed for the second time in the Higher Committee to negotiate his resignation from the post of chief negotiator on behalf of the delegation of the CPSU in protest against the reluctance of the international community to feel the importance of the blood of the Syrian people, who continue to suffer from the actions of the regime and its allies. The international community is able to stop the suffering of the Syrian people, but has no serious desire to do so», – quotes the statement Alloush Russian state news Agency RIA Novosti.
Muhammad Alloush, announced the resignation after the third round of talks ended unsuccessfully.
Last round of Syrian peace talks concluded in Geneva in April. The UN special envoy Staffan de Mistura has failed during this time to bring the parties to direct the meeting. According to de Mistura, a new round of talks could be scheduled for early July.
