People’s Republic of China visited the professional visit of a large delegation of representatives of Israeli companies developing environmentally friendly technologies. The visit was organized by the Ministry of environmental protection, the Department of foreign trade Ministry of economy and the Institute of export to raise to a new level cooperation between the Israeli developers of environmental technologies with Chinese companies interested in investments in the environmental field.
This visit was a direct continuation of the March visit by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to China. Then at the meeting between the leaders of China and head of the Israeli government, it was decided to focus on environmental innovation.
The Minister of environmental protection of Israel, Zeev Elkin, head of the delegation, said that the Israeli economy has a tremendous chance to make a giant leap into several levels: «We can turn our country into a superpower in the field of environmental technologies as well as we did in the sphere of high technologies».
The Israeli delegation participated in two business seminars in Beijing and in Nanjing. During the visit were signed the first agreements between Israeli and Chinese companies.
Zeev Elkin met with the head of Fund «the Bank of green technologies», which intends to invest 520 million dollars in environmental technology. Discussed the possibility of creating an Israeli-Chinese center, which will become a platform adaptation of Israeli technologies in China.
In addition, Israeli Minister of environmental protection met with his Chinese counterpart and signed an agreement on a three-year cooperation program between the ministries.
In the first quarter of next year, Israel should visit a delegation of Chinese specialists in order to see in practice with the Israeli environmental technologies, and to explore the Israeli legislation regulating this sphere.
In the capital of China Minister Elkin has held talks with several investment companies for the establishment of a special Fund with amount of $ 140 million for contributions to Israeli cleantech.
During the visit, emphasis was placed not only on the development of relations with the Central government in Beijing, but also to promote cooperation with provinces. The Minister Elkin met with the Governor of Jiangsu province, one of the leading in the Chinese economy. In the ranking of the GDP world powers Jiangsu province could take 15-th place in the world.
The delegation also visited Shanghai and held professional meetings with the leadership of the city. Agreement was reached on signing the agreement on cooperation between ministries, such as those that were signed with two Chinese provinces.
