Citizens of Slovenia, where a referendum were held today on the amendments to the family act, voted against gay marriage and rights same-sex partners to adopt children.
According to preliminary data, against the amendments voted by 63% of voters and only 37% believe that it is necessary to allow same-sex partners to register their relationships.
The initiator of the referendum were opponents of gay marriage from the society for the protection of children For Children. They went to court after the March, Parliament approved amendments to the law, according to which a formal marriage is a voluntary Union of two adults. The law did not take effect for requests made to the court.
