For the first time in 128 years, Coca Cola will produce alcohol. As reported by the BBC, it’s designed for the Japanese market and is a «alcopops» — a refreshing drink with an alcohol content of up to 8%.
«We never experimented with alcoholic beverages. But here’s an example of our willingness to go beyond the usual segment of the market», — said the Director of the Japanese branch of the company Jorge Garduno. He added that the drink will not be sold outside Japan.
According to the publication, drinks style «alcopops» in Japan it is extremely popular – they sell them as a female alternative to beer, which is considered «masculine» alcohol. Almost all local manufacturers have already mastered this market segment.
