Saturday, February 10, it became known that on Friday in Berlin, died a famous Icelandic composer Johann Johannsson, winner of Golden globe and other international awards. He was 48 years old.
The cause of death is not known. It is reported that he died in his Berlin apartment.
Johann Johannsson was born on 19 September 1969 in reykjavík. In University I studied foreign languages and literature. Musical activity began as a guitarist in bands playing indie rock, and in 1999 became the participant of the creative Association Kitchen Motors, support musicians who are working at the crossroads of different musical genres. At the same time founded the group Apparat Organ Quartet. Academic music and the ambient are close to Johan Johannsson after acquaintance with the works of Brian Eno and the musicians of his label Obscure Records.
First solo album of composer Englabörn was released in 2002. It was a collection of works of Johansson written for the stage play of the same name. Released in 2006 album IBM 1401, A User’s Manual composer dedicated to his father, who in своt time was one of the first in Iceland, computer engineers, trying to create melodies using computers.
In the period from 2010 to 2016 Johann Johannsson worked mainly as a film composer. But in 2016, signed a contract for the publication of a solo album with Studio Deutsche Grammophon. Orphée, the first solo album of Johannsson for 6 years, was the result of acquaintance of the author with different versions of the legends about Orpheus.

In 2012 for the music to the film «the Secret» Chinese Director Lou Ye received the prize «Golden horse». And in 2014, for the music for the film «the universe Stephen Hawking» was awarded the prize «Golden globe».
