Over thirty congressmen respublikantsev urge the White house administration to close the office of the Palestine liberation Organization in Washington. The author of this initiative was made by the Senator of Texas Ted Cruz – one of the candidates for the US presidency from the Republican party.
In this letter, addressed to the head of the state Department John Kerry, the statement quoted Palestinian leaders in the West Bank, calling for violence against Israelis. Against the backdrop of another round of terror in Israel American lawmakers believe is necessary to resume adopted in 1987, the law banning the activities of the PLO in America.
The authors of an article published December 31st, the Jewish news Agency JTA, I remind that this law was frozen in 1994 after the signing of the Oslo accords, and the PLO received in Washington by the quasi-diplomatic status.
The congressmen believe that the closure of the office of the PLO will become clear svidetelstvom that the U.S. does not intend to tolerate the incitement of terror by Palestinian leaders.
The state Department spokesman commented on the letter, saying in an interview with news Agency Reuters that the Agency finds this step is destructive and not conducive to resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Cruz initiative was supported by the Zionist organization of America (ZOA), which declared the fight against Palestinian aggression is their top priority. ZOA believes that the head of the PNA Mahmoud Abbas sabotaging their obligations under the Oslo accords, which require to declare terrorists outside the law, to extradite them to confiscate the weapons and to end the incitement of violence and murder in the Palestinian territory.
