16 may at Sotheby’s in Geneva sold a blue and pink diamonds are Apollo and Artemis, designed as earrings. As informs Agency Bloomberg, this lot was sold for 57 million dollars.
Dimensions of diamonds: 14.5 and 16 carats.
Recall that on 4 April Sotheby’s auction in Hong Kong for $712 million was sold to a diamond «Pink star» (The Pink Star) is 59.6 carats. Thereby set a new world record price for a gemstone. The buyer was a Hong Kong company Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group, the largest jewelry chain in the world by market capitalization. Before the auction the cost was estimated at more than $60 million.
Diamond «Pink star» was found by De Beers in 1999 and initially weighed 132,5 CT. After treatment the resulting diamond has an oval shape and mixed cut. Cut and polished over two years has been the company Steinmetz Diamonds. In 2013, Sotheby’s tried to sell the «Pink star», having received an offer of $83 million, but the deal fell through because the buyer, a new York diamond cutter Isaac wolf has not paid for the stone.
