Yuri A. Ryzhov was born on 28 Oct 1930. Soviet and Russian scientist in the field of fluid mechanics, politician and public figure, diplomat, academician, doctor of technical Sciences, ex-Ambassador of Russia in France.
In 1989-1991 – Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, member of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. From 1992 to 1999 – Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia in France, member of the Presidential Council.
Yuri Ryzhov was awarded the medal «Defender of free Russia» (1997), award-winning Russian and foreign academies and scientific societies, was awarded the Diploma of the Federation of peace and consent for active participation in strengthening of peace, harmony, cooperation and understanding.
In 2002, Ryzhov was elected a member of the Council of International Pugwash movement.
In September 2014 signed a statement demanding «to stop aggressive adventure: to withdraw from the territory of Ukraine of Russian troops and stop the propaganda, material and military support to the separatists in the South-East of Ukraine.»
One of the founders in the early 2000-ies, when significantly increased the number of «spy cases» against scientists, Public Committee to protect scientists. The Committee shall assist and support the Russian scientists, without evidence accused the FSB of treason in the form espionage and disclosure of state secrets. Among these scientists Igor Sutyagin, Valentin Danilov, Anatoly Babkin, Oscar Kaibyshev, Oleg korobeinichev, Igor Reshetin, Yevgeny Afanasyev, Svyatoslav Bobyshev and others.
Yuri Ryzhov was an active member of the Congress of Russian intelligentsia and the «Round table of December 12». In 2016, was awarded the Moscow Helsinki Group for historic contribution to the protection of human rights and the human rights movement.
