On Saturday, March 24, died, the Israeli sculptor Frank Meisler, Creator of an enormous array of works, who was considered a consummate master of the compositions of the metal.
The funeral will be held Meisler 25 Mar, 16:00, in the cemetery of Givat-Brener.
Frank Meisler. Brief biography
The exact date of the birth of franc unknown. In the official biography he wrote that he was born in 1929 in Danzig (now Gdansk, in Northern Poland) in a Jewish family. In August 1939, together with other Jewish children, he was evacuated from Germany to the Netherlands and then to Britain, the «Kindertransport». His parents three days later was arrested, was in Warsaw ghetto and later perished in Auschwitz. Frank was raised by his grandmother, who lived in London.
Frank Meisler graduated from high school in harrow. He served in the Royal air force. After the army he graduated from the architecture faculty of the University of Manchester. Participated in the creation of Heathrow airport.
In 1960, Frank immigrated to Israel. Lived and worked in Jaffa, where for many years open exhibition and sale of his sculptures.
In addition to his small metal sculptures, known throughout the world, he created a series of monumental compositions – «Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin» in Sochi, the «Kindertransport» in London, Berlin, Gdansk and Rotterdam, the memorial for Ben-Gurion etc.
