On Saturday, June 24, died the French journalist Veronique Robert, who worked in Mosul. Four days ago the film crew, which was Veronique, struck a mine.
54-year-old journalist was seriously injured and in critical condition was evacuated to an American military hospital. Robert was operated on in Baghdad, and then taken to the hospital Percy, near Paris. Forecasts of French doctors were cautiously optimistic, however, on Saturday morning Veronique Robert suddenly died. She died surrounded by her family: husband and two adult sons, according to Le Monde.
Veronique Robert has worked extensively in the Middle East, including in Iraq, going in the most «hot» points. Colleagues say of her as «professional and courageous journalist», stressing that that Veronique remained «fragile and very feminine».
With the explosion in Mosul killed journalist stéphane Villeneuve and translator Bakhtiar Haddad. Another member of the crew, Samuel Frey, were injured.
The crew of the French television was working on a special report dedicated to the liberation of Mosul from «Islamic state». Reportedly, she often worked practically on the battlefield.
