14 Mar on 71-m to year of life died the legendary Colombian boxer-Middleweight Rodrigo Valdes, whose confrontation with the Argentinian Carlos Monsoom is considered one of the busiest in the history of Boxing, Boxingscene reports.
He died of a heart attack.
Rodrigo Valdez is among the top three boxers of Colombia of all times (together with Antonio Cervantes and Miguel and Laura).
He spent 73 of bout 63 win and two draws.
Rodrigo Valdez became a world champion on the average weight under version WBC in 1974. In the seventh round he knocked out benny Briscoe. Then the Colombian had four successful title defense.
In June 1976, Valdes has lost the title after losing on points to Carlos Manzano (the battle took place in Monaco). After a year in Monaco held a match-a revenge. The Argentinian won again on points.
In April 1977 Rodrigo Valdez became a world champion under versions WBC, WBA, Ring magazine, winning a battle for the vacant belt benny Briscoe. Then he lost two champion fight the Argentinian Hugo of KORRO.
