The oldest Russian actress Varvara Surovitskaya died in Rostov-on-don at the age of 103 years.

Barbara Surovitskaya was born in 1913 in Pyatigorsk (Stavropol Krai). In 1924 her family moved to Krasnodar, and six years later in Rostov-on-don.
In 1931, Barbara Surovitskaya entered the State Institute of theatrical art im. A. V. Lunacharsky of the Rostov drama theater and three years as part of course went to Ashgabat, where he played in the Russian drama theatre. From 1934 to 1948 he worked in the Rostov Theatre of the red Army. In February 1943, the theater was transferred to the military situation and joined the army.
