Israeli company SodaStream was forced to lay off 74 of Palestinian workers from his job in Rahat, as they have over the validity of permits to work in Israel.
In 2014 activists of the Pro-Palestinian movement BSD (boycott, sanctions, withdrawal of the investment) have called for a boycott of SodaStream products due to the fact that the company’s factory in Mishor Adumim is located behind the «green line». Supporters of the boycott were not even embarrassed by the fact that the plant provided employment for hundreds of Palestinians.
In September 2015 closed the SodaStream factory in Mishor Adumim and transferred its activities in Rahat, obtaining government permission «to carry» in Rahat 130 of the 600 Palestinian workers.
However, in late February, the Arabs from the territories have expired permits. Website NRG says that on February 29th on the square in front of the plant there took place a ceremony of farewell to the workers, who are forced to return home to the Palestinian authority.
CEO Daniel Birnbaum believes that Arab workers were the best defenders of Israel before the BDS movement activists. Addressing the workers, he asked those who have to leave, remember that SodaStream was «peaceful island» in the midst of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The OPP team was able to ensure peaceful coexistence between Arabs and Jews.
