Later on Saturday evening, may 13, in the North-East of Iran, near the border with Turkmenistan, an earthquake occurred of magnitude from 5.4 to 5.8. The focus lies at a depth of 10 kilometers. The epicenter was located 26 km to the North of the settlement Bojnourd, according to the Tehran Institute of Geophysics and the European-Mediterranean seismological centre.
Night recorded a series of repeated aftershocks with magnitude up to 3.5.
The Agency TASS referring to the Iranian news channel IRINN reports that the earthquake affected nearly 100 settlements in the province of Khorasan, Isfahan. More than 10 villages destroyed by 60-70%.
According to the head of the provincial emergency Management Hosseini Azimi, the victims of the disaster were three people, at least 400 were injured, 21 people extracted from the rubble. 177 people were hospitalized, 26 of which are in serious condition.
In 11 villages, disrupted gas supply, the supply of electricity to the present time fully restored. In some mountain areas the earthquake was followed by landslides and rockfalls, resulting in trapped 12 local roads.
