Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan lashed out at the US administration after the special emissary of President Barack Obama has called for Syrian city of Kobani, populated by Kurds.
«The US should decide who should be their partner: Turkey or democratic Party unity? How we can trust you, if you establish relations with the controlling Kobani terrorists?» – asked the head of state.
The official Ankara considers MPC Syrian branch of the PKK, which is recognized as a terrorist group not only in Turkey but also in the United States and the European Union. The us administration considers the Kurdish self-defense units as an independent force.
The state Department reported that the position regarding the PKK has not changed: «We believe this terrorist group and we demand to immediately renounce violence. The resumption of the political process — the shortest path to ensuring civil rights and security of all citizens of Turkey».
Recall: Turkey is categorically against the involvement of the Kurds to negotiate to resolve the situation in Syria. Insists on Russia, but the US has indicated support in principle the involvement of the representatives of Kurdish movements.
