Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has pledged to grant citizenship to some of the Syrian and Iraqi refugees on Turkish territory, reported the news Agency France Presse.
Speaking on television, Erdogan said that among Syrian and Iraqi refugees there are many well-educated people, including engineers and doctors, and Turkey should use their talent.
According to him, they must not work illegally, and they should be allowed to become citizens of Turkey.
Erdogan added that the Ministry of internal Affairs will conduct all the necessary checks of refugees, after which they will be granted citizenship of Turkey.
The President did not say how many of the million Iraqi and Syrian refugees get Turkish citizenship.
