The Jerusalem district court, was found guilty of fraud and fraudulently obtaining benefits of the former chief Rabbi of Israel Eliyahu Bakshi-Doron.
The indictment against Eliyahu Bakshi-Doron was filed in 2012 in the framework of the «case of rabbis», but then it was allocated in a separate process.
According to the investigation, Yitzhak Ohana, who was responsible to the chief Rabbinate for the licensing of rabbis, Meir Rosenthal, employee of the College «Darko, Ora», Aaron Gossner, chief Rabbi of the Northern district police had issued a fictitious certificate of Rabbi 1.500 employees of the IDF, the police and other security services in the period from 1999 to 2003. Thanks to these identities «rabbis» received a significant salary increase in size from 2 to 4 thousand a month, and could continue to count on higher pension.
According to the investigation, to question the chief of Department of licensing of the rabbis about what to do with fictitious statements, Eliahu Bashki-Doron is ordered to give security personnel the identity of the rabbis, «not paying attention to some deviations from the requirements.» So with his «blessing» issuance of bogus certificates were put on stream.
