Right-wing party «national front» winning in the first round in 6 of the 13 districts, in the second round failed to consolidate his leadership and get the majority of votes in any of the regions.
The main struggle unfolded in the three regions where the party of Le Pen scored the highest number of votes. In these districts the socialists withdrew their candidates, urging voters to support in the second round candidates of the center-right. As a result, in the region of Nord-Pas-de-Cal-Picardie, which was nominated itself, marine Le Pen, defeated the candidate from the block «Republicans» and centrists, a former labour Minister in the government of Sarkozy, Xavier Bertin. He scored, according to preliminary data, 57.7% of the vote. Marine Le Pen managed to secure the support of 42.3% of voters.
In the second round of regional elections have taken part more than 50% of French voters. For comparison — in the first round the turnout was less than 40%.
