As a result of explosions of ammunition in a military warehouse in Abkhazia, which lasted more than four hours, injured more than 50 people.
According to TASS, the explosion at the warehouse of the Ministry of defence of Abkhazia in the village of Primorsk in the Gudauta district of the Republic began on Wednesday, August 2, at about 17:30 local time. The warehouse was cordoned off, but employees of operative services could not come close to the place of state of emergency because of the constant explosions.
After some time had been spent evacuation of inhabitants of nearby houses due to flying away fragments. In addition, there was limited movement on the highway Sukhumi, New Athos, so the pieces do not hit passing cars.
After more than four hours the explosions stopped, and experts were able to get to the scene. Also there arrived the staff of the interior Ministry and Prosecutor’s office, to understand the causes of the emergency.
All the victims were civilians, servicemen among them, the Agency said.
«In the Gudauta district hospital received 42 in the Sukhumi Republican hospital – 11. Of them were hospitalized 27 people. Five operated, their condition is stable heavy. Other shrapnel wounds of moderate severity», – said the Minister of health of Abkhazia Tamaz of Canacia.
