In a referendum in Iraqi Kurdistan for independence of the region voted 91,83% of voters. On Tuesday, 26 September, reported RIA Novosti in the Higher independent electoral Commission of Kurdistan.
The referendum was attended by over 3.44 million people entitled to vote. The turnout was 72,16%.
«The results of the calculation of 3.44 million votes, responded positively 91,83%, negative – 8,17%,» – said in the Commission.
A referendum on Iraqi Kurdistan’s independence was held on Monday, 25 September, despite the pressure of world powers and threat to the neighbors.
The Prime Minister of Iraq Haidar al-Abadi said that the Iraqi government will discuss with leaders of the Kurds the results of the referendum because, in his words, the referendum is «unconstitutional».
