May 23, police arrested the former President of Barcelona Sandro Rosell in the case of money laundering and corruption, reports the New York Times.
The national police and civil guard conducted a joint operation in Catalonia and Andorra, in the course of which they arrested a number of persons accused of money laundering. The arrests were carried out in Barcelona, Lleida, Girona and Andorra.
All arrested five people, including the wife of Sandro Rosell Mar Pineda.
They are charged with including in the laundering of € 15 million from the sale of rights to broadcast matches of the national team of Brazil.
Judge Carmen Lamela sanctioned the arrest of more than 50 properties and freeze € 10 million in the accounts of those arrested.
