The former head of the CONMEBOL and Vice-President of FIFA, Eugenio Figueredo, a few days ago sent to the Swiss authorities in Uruguay, pleaded guilty of bribery and money laundering, reports Clarin.
The representative of the law enforcement agencies of Uruguay said: 83-year-old Figueredo admitted in transportation of money for the Federation and stated that «legalized easy money, becoming President of the Federation».
Prosecutor Juan Gomez said that CONMEBOL flourished «subtle corruption» and illegal activity Figueredo lasted for several decades, AFP reports.
Lawyer Karen Pinto stated that her client was transferred to hospital because of problems operating system health.
Eugenio Figueredo faces from 2 to 15 years in prison.
