Popular Jewish minimarket called Shmaltz Deli, located in the city of NAPERVILLE, Illinois, were attacked by hackers who defaced the window that says «Freedom for Gaza».
Police are investigating the incident as a crime of hatred, wrote on Tuesday, June 20, the website of CBS Chicago.
The local police chief Lou Cammisa said in an interview that he sees no threat in this «political statement», but the fact that the store is owned by a Jew, Howard Bender, makes this incident a crime.
Bender told reporters that he spent two hours to rectify this inscription, which was replaced by another: «Hate has no place here». He described the incident in his blog on the social network Facebook, published there the following text:
«Shmaltz Deli is the only Jewish shop in the area and we are proud to support the Jewish community, which, however, is not monolithic. We unite on the basis of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and attacks from abroad because it is anti – Semitism».
