Federal German prosecutors opened an investigation against two employees of the Federal office for the protection of the Constitution, which is suspected of transferring funds to terrorist grouping «al-Qaeda», reported February 14, DW news Agency with reference to capital know the newspaper Berliner Morgenpost.
The basis of this investigation became the confessions of an Islamist Irfan Furnace, recruited by the staff of the Federal office for the protection of the Constitution – author of «Jihadist», published in the summer of 2015.
The ex-agent claims he got from the curator of € 500 for transmission to one of the leaders of the terrorists to buy his trust, and has previously paid 300 euros to the group «German Taliban Mujahideen», with the approval of his superiors. Thus, as stressed by the Furnace, the curator was aware that this money will be given to the terrorists, but he has sanctioned this step with the approval of the legal Department of the Federal office for the protection of the Constitution.
Bundestag Deputy from the party of «green» Hans-Christian Strebel urged the Prosecutor’s office thoroughly investigate the incident «without regard to the personality and Agency», calling unacceptable the fact that terrorist groups conduct their criminal activities with the money of German taxpayers.
According to the German legislation, providing support to a terrorist group is punishable by imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years.
