The German authorities suspected the 40-year-old Niels Hegel, who worked as a nurse in the intensive care departments of hospitals in Delmenhorst and Oldenburg, in the murder of at least 84 people, according to AFP.
In February 2015 nil Hegel means was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of two patients. And he confessed to killing at least 30 people, saying that «boredom», injected with a deadly dose of drugs to stimulate cardiac activity, and then tried to revive. At that stage of the investigation, the court found him guilty of only two murders.
In the past two years, the investigation concluded that the victims of Hegel were at least 84 people.
Note that the first sentence of Hegel was rendered by the district court of Oldenburg in 2008, when he was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison for «causing death by negligence», although he’s suspected in three murders and two attempted murders.
In total, investigated 174 cases of death of patients in hospitals of Delmenhorst and Oldenburg.
